So I wanted to tell my life story especially for all my old Bakersfield friends that I haven’t seen for sooo long. I'll start were I left Bakersfield which was about 12 yrs ago, wow it's almost as if while I'm writing an epiphany cried out “your old”, by the way I’m seriously going through a mid-life crisis, I know I’m only 34. That’s another subject.
So at 22 I moved to Utah. I told everyone it was cause I missed my dad. Partly true, but 70% should lean more towards my lack of love life. I think that many of us who grew up together in the church were so close that we saw each other more as siblings. It was almost taboo to date each other.
OK continuing on, so I moved here went to school (SLCC) majored in Biology, I was going to be a genetic engineer, I still love this field. So after 3 yrs of school and getting my associates I started to look in the paper for employment opportunities for geneticist. There weren’t any. Apparently no one got the memo that Geneticists would be in top demand in the 21st century.
Being depressed by my future job outlook and realizing that I wasn’t the best student. Having no idea what I should major in. Combine that with a newly wrecked car, I decided to join the army. I know, what was I thinking.
I had always felt the need to join. I would probably go into the recruiter’s office once a year but never did join. Not until the age of 25. I joined the Army Reserve. In the reserves you do basic and skill training then the 1 weekend a month for 6 years. I'm really grateful that I was able to serve my country, looking back i should have been a better soldier. I sucked at it. I would rather do push-ups for hours then polish my boots.
After a year of training, I was a journalist, apparently a poor one from viewing my poor grammar. I came home and went to UVSC majoring in Computer Programming. I had discovered a love for computers while in the military. I had previous thought that a job in computers sounded extremely boring.
A week home from Army Training(Maryland) and I met my wife at a UVSC institute dance. I’d been at the dance for an hour disappointed in the prospects. When a friend came up and said “Have you seen Racheal’s friend?” Racheal was a friend in our apartment complex. So I went and took a look. Clorissa was a just the most lovely girl i had ever seen so I asked her to dance. I still remember what she looked like and when we first looked into each others eyes. Normally I would have let the friend ask her to dance but not this time. And that was that.
See wasn’t a member when we met but was taking the discussions and already had a baptismal date set. I kind of new when I met her that see would be my wife. I say “kind of” cause she still wasn’t a member so I wasn’t a 100% sure.
Anyways we dated 14 months, during which we had a 6 month engagement and got married in timpanogas temple at the age of 27 and 21.
6 months later I got deployed to Kosovo. Ouch, that was hard on us both. When I came home 9/11 had just happened and the economy was been really shekened but we were lucky enough to buy a house in orem.
Couple years later had the twins and that’s my life story.
